Description of Coverguard clothing fabrics,
technical characteristics
COTTON (CO)
A natural, plant material made from the cotton
boll’s cellulose fibers with favorable properties:
delicate, kind to skin, strong and absorbent.
SOYA
Made from soya protein, a quick-drying, silky-soft
fibrous thread with excellent permeability, color-
retaining and UV resistant properties.
BAMBOO
A natural, soft viscose fabric with excellent ab-
sorbency, permeability and antibacterial char-
acteristics
POLYESTER (PEs)
A strong, soft, crease-proof and shape-retaining
fabric which is easy to wash and dry and a good
insulator.
POLYCOTTON
Combines the naturalness and absorbency of
cotton (35%) with the durability and resistance
to wear of polyester (65%).
COTTONPOLY
Also combines the advantages characteristics of
cotton (60%) and polyester (40%) but even kinder
to the body being warmer in winter and more airy
in summer.
POLYAMIDE (PA)
An outstandingly wear resistant, strong threaded,
durable and elastic, synthetic fabric, with visible
veining and water-repellent properties.
POLYURETHANE
A less dense, thinner, elastic fabric with good
insulating and water resistant properties the micro
porous variety of which is used in breathable
clothing.
POLYVINYL CHLORIDE (PVC)
A thicker, synthetic fabric used as a coating,
with good liquid and chemical resistance
characteristics.
POLAR FLEECE
A double knit, synthetic fabric which is very soft
and an excellent insulator (extra fine, less than 1
din microfiber variety also available).
TASLAN 320D
A light, fleecy fabric produced with high pressure,
compressed air.
RIPSTOP
A high tensile-strength, synthetic fabric woven in
a crosshatch pattern from polyester or polyamide
fibers.
OXFORD
A small, crosshatch structured fabric woven from
thicker fibers on the front and thinner fibers on
the back with a soft, ribbed textile feel.
TAFFETA
A remarkably smooth-surfaced, silk-like fabric
woven from synthetic (polyester, polyamide) or
natural materials
BRETHAN
®
Breathable, waterproof and windproof fabric with
a soft layer of micro porous polyurethane.
SOFTSHELL
®
Three layered (outer polyester/spandex, mid-layer
TPU film, inner micro polar) waterproof, breathable,
soft, elastic fabric.
COOLDRY
®
A special fabric with superior sweat absorption,
evaporation and moisture repellent properties
than other synthetic fibers or cotton.
THERMOLITE
®
A synthetic fiber with excellent insulation and
moisture removal properties.
THINSULATE™
Lightweight polyester fiber developed by 3M™
which has both excellent insulation and water-
repellent characteristics.
