covered with clothing do not get sunburnt, however the skin is
still exposed to harmful (280-400 nm) UV radiation. Carewear

UV protection garments filter out 99% of harmful UVA/UVB
radiation. The high, UPF 50+ UV protection is provided by
the fabric itself, no chemical coating is involved; therefore,
washing and wear does not affect the UV protection capabilities,
neither is it mechanically removable. The substance that
does the actual UV filtering (titanium-dioxide, the same as
for commercial sunscreen lotions) is in tiny ceramic globules
woven in the fabric, so it does not get in contact with the skin.
